Positive things happen to positive people. Yeah, I’m a great believer in that. And don’t I know it. I have to say that I speak from experience. And I must just say that it wasn’t always all good for me.
In fact, it was pretty bumpy when I started out. Now, I’m not patronizing any of you who are just starting out, but I could just add that it’s never been as good as it is now for social media campaigners, entrepreneurs and marketers. When I started working my own business, Instagram just started. At that stage, I was already focused on my Facebook page. But over time, I started researching the positives of going live with an Instagram account.
And so here we are. Also, I get followers on Instagram a lot more regularly than I used to with my FB account. Now, my FB account isn’t exactly idle, seeing as though I’m not posting regularly from that platform. The thing is, my Instagram posts are linked to my Facebook account. And its sparingly hash-tagged as well. Which brings me to the first of two subjects I want to raise with you. The main advice I want to give you on the use of hashtags and, yes, I see some of you are surprised at this, hacks, is to take a positive and rational view of it.
Take the view that these two software devices are there to service you and no-one else. Of course, it goes without saying that it’s got to be of good use to your target markets or new customers. And that’s up to you too. Make sure you’re utilizing the hacks and hashtags in a professional and ethical manner. There’s no need to go crazy with hashtags. One or two relevant tags to your commercial business website are all that is necessary to attract the notice of your future customers.
Polluting your short to long post with half a dozen hashtags is just crazy. If I was a potential customer, I wouldn’t take you seriously and wouldn’t even bother to follow through on your links. In fact, I may just even mark your post as spam. To be avoided at all costs. No doubt, hacks have been causing problems for many internet users and social media active folks over the years. But there are those positive ones that have been developed for your own commercial use.
It’s a handy device for new start-ups who don’t yet have a cent to their name. I like to call these smart guys, the guys that develop these hacks, as your online NGO guys. Because they’re smart with their IT work, they don’t need to exploit you for your money. This means that you can download their hacks for free. Some of them would rather you don’t do this and register and go live online with them.
The main motivation for this is to keep your activities discreet and secure.
